A refreshing vanilla chocolate frappe made with infused vanilla milk, melted chocolate, and crushed ice, combining creamy and rich flavors for an indulgent treat served chilled.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups (750 ml) of milk
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • 4 oz (110 g) bittersweet chocolate
  • 2 teaspoons instant coffee powder
  • 1 vanilla bean
  • 4 teaspoons granulated sugar
  • Crushed ice (about 4 tablespoons)

Method

  1. Prepare the vanilla milk
    Split the vanilla bean open and extract its seeds. Combine the milk with both the vanilla bean pod and its seeds in a saucepan. Heat until it reaches a boil, then remove from heat and allow the flavors to infuse for 15 minutes.
  2. Melt the chocolate
    Break the chocolate into small chunks and place them in a saucepan with the coffee powder and 3 tablespoons of milk. Gently heat the mixture, stirring continuously, until it becomes a smooth, creamy consistency.
  3. Combine the chocolate and milk
    Remove the vanilla bean pod from the infused milk. Slowly mix the melted chocolate into the vanilla-scented milk over low heat. Add the sugar, followed by the heavy cream, and whisk vigorously until the mixture is smooth. Allow it to cool completely before chilling in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
  4. Assemble the drink
    Crush the ice finely to make about 4 tablespoons. Distribute the crushed ice evenly among four glasses. Pour the chilled chocolate mixture over the ice and serve immediately.
